Obverse (Liberty side): The date “1922” and motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” are bold and fully legible. Liberty’s profile is clear, with the eye, mouth, and ear well-defined. The hair shows moderate wear—some individual strands are visible and partially separated, especially flowing back from the face, but the area over the ear is starting to flatten and merge. The cheek is smooth and flat with noticeable abrasions and contact marks, lacking any remaining detail or luster. The radiating crown rays are visible but softened. This level of detail is typical for VF, where major features are sharp but high points show even wear; it’s better than Fine (F-12), where hair lines would be more merged and flat, but not as crisp as Extremely Fine (XF-40), where hair strands would be more distinct with only light
